Bellydancing

This beginner’s class offers women the chance to learn the basic techniques of oriental dance- “Raks sharqi”. Working mainly in the Egyptian style, the course focuses on understanding the dance’s vocabulary and music. Instruction will encourage improvisational dancing and its dialogue with the music.  To see what you can learn after just one session, watch our bellydancers during their performance début:

African Dance

This course is an initiation to different african dance styles, both modern and traditional.  Students will learn the basic steps and gradually those more complex.  This energizing dance allows the students to work their coordination, develop their sense of rythme, and improve their physical fitness.

Hip Hop

Be part of the fastest growing community in pop culture today – welcome to the world of Hip Hop! A demanding exercise, hip hop is performed with choreographed moves inspired by rhythm and feeling. An excellent way to keep in shape, improve your coordination, in a way that is guaranteed to make you feel the beat!  For a glimpse of how much you can improve after just one course, watch our brave students as they perform during our Christmas show:

Latin & Modern Ballroom

Learn the cha cha, rhumba, samba, waltz, and tango in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

 
Salsa and Merengue

Beginner level: In a friendly and social atmosphere, students will take their first steps to dancing to the upbeat rhythm of salsa and merengue. This class provides an excellent introduction to partner dancing to a latin beat. Students will learn the basic steps, cross body leads, turns, openings and separations, and more. Swing and Rock and Roll

SwingBeginner level: This is an introductory course in the basics of Swing, Triple Swing and Lindy standards. After this course, dancers will be able to perform to both the fast and slow rhythms of the different Swing families. To watch a video on our swing class, please refer to the salsa section of this page.

Intermediate level: This follow-up course to the beginner’s level elaborates on the different moving techniques in closed and open position on the 6 and 8 beats. You will learn kicks, zigzags, scissors, tours and tuck-spin, as well as the basic moves of Lindy and Charleston.  To watch a video on our swing class, please refer to the salsa section of this page.

 
Tango (Argentinian)

TangoBeginner level: A beginner’s course in the movements and structure of ‘salon style’ Argentinian tango. It involves exercises and short movements permitting dancers to learn how to lead, and to follow on a ‘milonga’ style dance floor.

Intermediate level: The techniques and basic ornaments of the symbols and structures covered in this course will enable the dancing couple to perform simple and fun tango improvisations to music in a shared space.
